The Danville-Pittsylvania Regional Industrial Facility Authority (RIFA) is
seeking opinions regarding the need for a regional bus service to support employment and economic
development opportunities. A survey has been developed to help RIFA prioritize potential regional public
transportation service areas, as well as determine overall feasibility.

The areas under consideration for service include the Southern Virginia/Northern North Carolina region,
focusing on the Danville area. The primary planned local destinations are the Southern Virginia Megasite at
Berry Hill, which is a rapidly developing industrial site that will be a major employment center when completed,
Caesar’s Virginia on West Main Street in Danville, and the Danville Transit hub on Spring Street.

The survey is accessible through the following link:

For those without computer access, paper copies of the survey are available at:

Surveys need to be completed by November 1, 2024. The Regional Public Transportation Feasibility Study is
being conducted by the KFH Group, a consulting firm that specializes in the transit industry, with funding
assistance through RIFA. A draft of the study findings is scheduled to be completed in early 2025.
